Author Biography

Jan J Hattingh, University of South Africa

Jan J Hattingh served as Town Clerk of Sandton and later as Professor in Public and Municipal Administration at the University of South Africa. His municipal career spanned about 40 years, during which he was Vice-President and President of the Institute of Town Clerks of Southern Africa (now the Institute for Local Government Management of South Africa). In 1986, he was awarded Honorary Life Membership for his service to local government. Hattingh also published extensively in administrative science journals.
